Expression of Ecol\galE^Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI rescues the lethality caused by expression of Gale^NIG.12030R under the control of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI. The rescued males show normal fecundity (number of offspring produced when mated to wild-type females). The rescued females show reduced fecundity (reduced number of offspring produced when mated to wild-type males) if expression occurs at the pupal stage at days 11-17 or earlier but show normal fecundity if expression is at the pupal stage at days 18-19.

The short lived phenotype seen in adult males and females expressing Gale^NIG.12030R under the control of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI from the late larval or early-to-mid-pupal stage onwards (the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80^ts.αTub84B allele is used to regulate the timing of expression) in the presence of 175mM galactose is completely suppressed by the simultaneous expression of both Ecol\galE^Scer\UAS.cDa and Zzzz\wbgU^Scer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI.
