Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change.
Homozygous clones cannot be recovered in the adult eye at 29[o]C (they undergo apoptosis). However, despite the absence of mutant clones, these eyes are often larger than normal and contain folds, indicating overgrowth. Third larval instar discs are overgrown in mosaic animals raised at 29[o]C. Although homozygous clones are present in the overgrown discs, they are relatively small compared with controls and so do not contribute to the overgrowth.
At 25[o]C, homozygous clones in the eye survive well and are recovered in adults.
Homozygous clones in the eye disc contain extra interommatidial cells compared to controls at 42 hours after puparium formation.
