The number of dendritic endpoints of dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons is reduced compared to controls in larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4109(2)80. Analysis of branching in second instar larvae (when dendrites are undergoing arborisation) suggests that the defects are due to disruption of the formation of new dendritic branches and disruption of the extension of existing branches, while dendrite retraction appears to be unaffected.

Single cell ddaC neuron clones expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4477 show shortening and reduction of dendritic branches, with higher order dendrites being preferentially affected.

The number and the length of dendritic spikes in class III ddaA neurons is reduced in larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 and carrying Df(2L)TW3 compared to controls. In addition, the number of dendritic endpoints of dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons is reduced compared to controls in these larvae.

Expression of NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4IG1-1 results in a reduction in the number and length of higher order (tertiary or higher branch) dendrites of class I ddaE neurons.

The number of dendritic endpoints of dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons is reduced compared to controls in larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155.

α-Adaptin3/+ enhances the reduction in the number of dendritic endpoints of dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons which is seen in larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155. In addition, clusters of shortened terminals are more often seen.

Chc1/+ enhances the reduction in the number of dendritic endpoints of dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons which is seen in larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4109(2)80. In addition, clusters of shortened terminals are more often seen.

Nrgl4 and Nrgl7 each dominantly enhance the shortening of dendritic length and the reduction in the number of dendritic endpoints of dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons which is seen in larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155.

The reduction in the number of dendritic endpoints of dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons which is seen in larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4109(2)80 is not enhanced by either AP-47SAE-10/+ or g1/+.

Comments

Co-expression of NakScer\UAS.cCa rescues the dendritic defects seen in the dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons of larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4109(2)80.

Co-expression of NakScer\UAS.cCa rescues the dendritic defects seen in the dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons of larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155.

Co-expression of either NakKD.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC or NakDPF-AAA.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC fails to rescue the dendritic defects seen in the dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons of larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4109(2)80.

Co-expression of either NakKD.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC or NakDPF-AAA.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC fails to rescue the dendritic defects seen in the dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons of larvae expressing NakdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155.
