wing, with Scer\GAL4elav.PU
Expression of shits.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4upd-E132 at 29[o]C (restrictive temperature) lengthens the period of locomotor activity by approximately 0.7 hours under constant darkness conditions. Locomotor activity rhythms revert back to normal after the flies are shifted to 21[o]C (permissive temperature).
Expression of shits.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of either Scer\GAL4ey.3.5.Exel or Scer\GAL4repo.PU at the restrictive temperature results in a glial overmigration phenotype in the eye disc.
Expression of shits.Scer\UAS.cUa in early to mid-third instar larvae under the control of any one of Scer\GAL4NP423, Scer\GAL4NP867 or Scer\GAL4NP394 leads to positive larval phototaxis at the restrictive temperature, whereas controls show negative phototaxis.
Animals carrying shits.Scer\UAS.cUa and Scer\GAL4repo.PU raised at 18[o]C and then subsequently shifted as adults to 30[o]C show 100% lethality within 3 days of the temperature shift.
Expression of shits.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mz709 at 30[o]C strongly suppresses glial clearance of axonal debris from the central nervous system after severing of olfactory receptor neurons. Expression of shits.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4alrm.PD at 30[o]C has no effect on axon debris clearance after severing of olfactory receptor neurons.
Animals carrying shits.Scer\UAS.cUa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E and shifted to the restrictive temperature of 31[o]C at the third larval instar show a dramatic induction of wing hairs. If the shift to the restrictive temperature occurs at 26 hours after puparium formation, a milder wing-hair duplication phenotype is seen in the resulting adults.
