    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Blocking neural transmission in Scer\GAL4c202a (L1)-expressing neurons results in defects in turning responses to rotational visual motion. The flies are virtually non-responsive to moving light edges (a transition from brighter to darker). Responses to dark edge motion are unaffected. In an opposing edge assay (in which light and dark edges move in opposite directions) the flies turn in the direction of the dark edge motion.

When neurons expressing Scer\GAL4c202a (L1) and Scer\GAL421D (L2) are both silenced the flies do not respond to rotational stimuli.

In contrast to silencing either neuron alone, when neurons expressing Scer\GAL4c202a (L1) and Scer\GAL40595 (L3) are both silenced the flies show little response to dark edge motion. In addition, these flies are largely unable to respond to rotating square wave gratings containing both edge types.

Additionally silencing Scer\GAL40987 (L4)-expressing neurons does not enhance the defects in rotational visual motion response seen when Scer\GAL4c202a (L1)-expressing neurons are silenced.

Blocking neural transmission in Scer\GAL4c202a (L1)-expressing neurons does not affect the modulation of forward walking speed in response to translational motion stimuli seen in controls.

Additionally silencing Scer\GAL4c202a (L1)-expressing neurons does not enhance the defects in translational motion response seen when Scer\GAL421D (L2)-expressing neurons are silenced.

Additionally silencing Scer\GAL4c202a (L1)-expressing neurons does not enhance the defects in translational motion response seen when Scer\GAL40595 (L3)-expressing neurons are silenced.

Blocking neural transmission in both Scer\GAL4c202a (L1) and Scer\GAL40987 (L4)-expressing neurons does not result in defects in responses to translational motion stimuli.
