Recombination between the two progenitor insertions has resulted in deletion of the intervening sequence, which deletes the entire coding region of wde.
Deletion of fwde resulting from FLP-catalyzed recombination using the FRT-containing transposons P{XP}d01917 and P{XP}d03942.
Animals homozygous for any of wded06198, wdeEY00884 or wdeTD63 mutant alleles or transheterozygous for any combination of the three alleles die at pupal stages. Rare escapers can be obtained by raising homozygous mutant larvae separated from their heterozygous siblings. Adult homozygous escapers are weak and survive only for a few days. The ovaries of homozygous mutant females are tiny and do not develop to the stage when egg chambers bud off from the germarium.
Homozygous wdeTD63 mutant germ-line clones do not produce any eggs.
wdeTD63 is rescued by wdeUASp.GFP/Scer\GAL4da.G32
