The expression of Cnx99AKK108301 results in defects at the neuromuscular junction of third instar larval abdominal muscles 6 and 7: expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU alone results in a significant increase in the number of >=5micron synaptic boutons, despite an insignificant change in the total number of boutons, and insignificant changes in the number of 'ghost' boutons and in the number of branches, as compared to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU results in a significant decrease in the frequency, but not amplitude, of miniature excitatory junction potentials and results in a significant increase in the latency period to stimuli, without affecting the amplitude of the corresponding excitatory junction potentials, as compared to controls.

At the neuromuscular junction of third instar larval abdominal muscles 6 and 7, the co-expression of Cnx99AKK108301 and paraGD3392 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU partially suppresses the increased total number of boutons induced by the expression of Cnx99AKK108301 alone, and suppresses the increased 'ghost' bouton number, but not the increase in the number of synaptic boutons of >=5micron diameter, the decrease in the total number of boutons or the decrease in the number of branches, induced by the expression of paraGD3392 alone; the co-expression of Cnx99AKK108301 and paraGD3392 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU does not significantly enhance the increased latency period to stimuli induced by the expression of either Cnx99AKK108301 alone or paraGD3392 alone, but partially suppresses the decreased miniature excitatory junction potentials induced by the expression of either Cnx99AKK108301 alone.

The adult locomotion defects resulting from the expression of Cnx99AKK108301 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU and Dicer-2 transgene are partially rescued by the co-expression of Cnx99AScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG.
