    Detailed Description

    Reference

mts299 mutant type II neuroblast clones contain multiple neuroblasts.

Mutant larvae have highly enlarged brain lobes and produce supernumerary neuroblasts in the brain.

mts299/mtss5286 central brains contain around 1000 neuroblasts at 96 hours after larval hatching, compared to around 100 neuroblasts in wild-type central brains at this time. An increase in BrdU incorporation is also observed in the mutants.

The mitotic spindle is misaligned with the cortical crescent in 44% of neuroblasts cells in the mts299/mtsunspecified mutant.

    Genetic Interactions

Expression of numbTS4A.Scer\UAS completely suppresses the ectopic type II neuroblasts found in mts299 type II neuroblast clones.

Expression of numbScer\UAS.cOa does not suppress the ectopic type II neuroblasts found in mts299 type II neuroblast clones.

Expression of numbPTB.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL41407 significantly suppresses the neuroblast overgrowth phenotype seen in mts299/mtss5286 larvae.

poloT:Avic\GFP can significantly suppress the neuroblast overgrowth phenotype seen in mts299 mutants.

Expression of poloScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-YFP.Venus under the control of Scer\GAL41407 can significantly suppress the neuroblast overgrowth phenotype seen in mts299 mutants.
