UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of PscGD4481 under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 (together with tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to adulthood) does not cause any obvious defects in germaria morphology and development.
Expression of PscGD4481 results in: very slight rough eye phenotype (with the Scer\GAL4GMR.PF driver) and occasional incomplete posterior crossvein phenotype (with Scer\GAL4en.PU). Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI-driven expression is viable; no overt adult phenotype is observed with either Scer\GAL4ey.PH or Scer\GAL4nub.PK.
Adults expressing PscGD4481 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Simultaneous expression of both PscGD4481 and Su(z)2GD16388 under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 (together with tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to adulthood) results in tumorigenic accumulation of spectrosome containing germline stem cell-like (GSC-like) cells (which increase in number with the time of expression) in female germaria, however no increase in apoptosis is observed. Expression of bamhs.PO (induced by 1hr heat-shock once a day for 5 consecutive days) induces differentiation of the tumor cells. The accumulation of GSC-like cells is also significantly suppressed by co-expression of any of the following: dppJF01090, dppJF01091, dppJF01677 or brmHM04019 or by combination with a single copy of either dpphr56 or dppe90.
The tumorigenic phenotype (accumulation of germline stem cell-like undifferentiated cells) observed in female germaria upon simultaneous expression of PscGD4481 and Su(z)2GD16388 under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 (together with tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to adulthood) is not suppressed by co-expression of BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa.
