adult thorax & mechanosensory sensory organ | somatic clone, with Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PZ

adult thorax | dorsal & mechanosensory sensory organ, with Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Expression of nvyScer\UAS.cWa in the dorsal region of the wing disc, under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, causes the complete suppression of sensory organ formation. This results in the complete lack of external and internal components of the sensory organs in the dorsal region of the adult thorax. Flies that express nvyScer\UAS.cWa in the sensory organ precursors, under the control of Scer\GAL4neur-GAL4-A101, appear wild type. Clones expressing nvyScer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PZ in the wing disc never contain sensory organ precursors. This causes bald patches in the adult thorax where no bristles are present. The clones have a non-autonomous effect on sensory organ precursor development, as cells touching the Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PZ > nvyScer\UAS.cWa clone are less likely to form these precursors compared to cells touching wild-type clones. The thoraces of flies that express nvyScer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4, have some missing bristles.

Co-expression of aseScer\UAS.cBa and nvyScer\UAS.cWa, both under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, leads to a phenotype that is an intermediate of the two phenotypes seen when each is expressed separately. Resulting larvae have few sensory organ precursors in the wing disc, and adults have some bristles on the thorax. Co-expression of nvyScer\UAS.cWa with scScer\UAS.cPa, both under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, results in the same phenotype caused by nvyScer\UAS.cWa single expression, in which dorsal thoracic macrochaetae are missing. The extra macrochaetae phenotype caused by scScer\UAS.cPa single expression is completely suppressed. The bristle phenotype of flies co-expressing sensScer\UAS.cNa and nvyScer\UAS.cWa, both under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4, is exactly the same as that of flies that only express sensScer\UAS.cNa; there are extra bristles present on the thorax. Co-expression of daScer\UAS.cGa and nvyScer\UAS.cWa, both under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, causes a bristle phenotype that is intermediate to the two phenotypes produced by single expression of either; flies have fewer macrochaetae on the thorax than wild type.
