PGRP-SC1aZ2-4761 mutant adults phagocytose E.coli and B.subtilis normally, but phagocytosis of dead S.aureus particles is reduced. Survival of these flies following E.coli infection is as wild-type, but lethality occurs much sooner following S.aureus infection than in wild-type and no accumulation of live S.aureus in phagosomes can be seen 24 hours after infection. :
PGRP-SC1aZ2-4761 is rescued by Scer\GAL4T155/PGRP-SC1aUAS.cGa
PGRP-SC1aZ2-4761 is partially rescued by Scer\GAL4T155/PGRP-SC1am.UAS
Phagocytosis of dead S.aureus particles in PGRP-SC1aZ2-4761 adults is rescued by PGRP-SC1aScer\UAS.cGa; Scer\GAL4T155 & partially rescued by PGRP-SC1am.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4T155. The rate of lethality in these flies due to infection with live S.aureus is slowed and the accumulation of live S.aureus into phagosomes is rescued by PGRP-SC1aScer\UAS.cGa; Scer\GAL4T155 and by PGRP-SC1am.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4T155 in the presence, but not the absence, of free S.aureus peptidoglycan.
