Detailed Description
Statement

The mean amplitude of the evoked junctional current (EJC) is decreased by approximately 40% at the neuromuscular junction in homozygous larvae compared to controls. The miniature EJC amplitude is increased slightly in the mutant animals compared to controls. Quantal content is reduced by approximately 40% in the mutant larvae.

Recordings from larval neuromuscular junctions (muscle 6 of A3 or 4) of Dge01554/Df(2R)ED2457 animals show a dramatic decrease in evoked synaptic transmission. However, the size and frequency of spontaneous mini excitatory junction potentials is normal. Short term facilitation is enhanced in these mutants.

Evoked excitatory junction potentials are normal at the neuromuscular junctions of rtP/+ or Dge01554/+ larvae, but siginficantly reduced compared to wild-type in rtP/+; Dge01554/+ larvae. However, the size and frequency of spontaneous mini excitatory junction potentials is normal in transheterozygotes.
