e(y)3EMSl homozygotes die at mid-embryonic stages.

Homozygous e(y)3EMSl females and hemizygous males die at a midembryonic stage. Mutants have multiple and variable disturbances in development including the formation of the head, midgut, malpighian tubes and embryonic gonads.

Mutant embryos have defects in the head, midgut, Malpighian tubules and the gonads.
