The normal smooth structure of the laminar plexus is replaced by large aggregates separated by gaps in hemizygous third instar larvae. Abnormally thick axons bundles are seen in the medulla, and medullar axons often stray into neighbouring regions. The growth cones in the medulla are enlarged and often overlap with each other. This phenotype is 70% penetrant.
