G413S
Heterozygous Mhc2D mutant flies show normal dorsal longitudinal muscle morphology.
Heterozygotes can fly as well as wild-type flies. Homozygotes have a reduced flight index (63.9 +/- 3.2) compared to wild type (78 +/- 6.7).
Mhc2D/Mhc2D is a suppressor of abnormal locomotor behavior phenotype of wupAhdp-2
Mhc[+]/Mhc2D is a suppressor of abnormal locomotor behavior phenotype of wupAhdp-2
Mhc2D/Mhc2D is a suppressor of indirect flight muscle cell phenotype of wupAhdp-2
Mhc[+]/Mhc2D is a suppressor of indirect flight muscle cell phenotype of wupAhdp-2
Mhc2D/Mhc2D is a suppressor of indirect flight muscle cell phenotype of up101
Mhc[+]/Mhc2D is a suppressor of indirect flight muscle cell phenotype of up101
Mhc12/Mhc2D is a non-suppressor of indirect flight muscle cell phenotype of wupAhdp-3
The defects seen in wupAhdp-2/Y flies are partially suppressed by Mhc2D/+; 49% of the double mutant adults have an upheld wing phenotype and 51% hold their wings in the normal position. 10% of the indirect flight muscle fibres are hypercontracted, 85% show a partial hypercontraction phenotype and 5% are normal. The wing and indirect flight muscle defects are completely suppressed in wupAhdp-2/Y ; Mhc2D/Mhc2D flies, although the sarcomeres are still shorter than normal. For 6-7 days after eclosion the muscle structure remains completely normal, but after this the central myofibrillar lattice becomes disordered, with characteristic Z-band streaming and gaps in the lattice. The defects seen in up101/Y flies are partially suppressed by Mhc2D/+; 52% of the double mutant adults have an upheld wing phenotype, 34% have their wings held down and 14% hold their wings in the normal position. 100% of the indirect flight muscle fibres show a partial hypercontraction phenotype. The wing and indirect flight muscle defects are completely suppressed in up101/Y ; Mhc2D/Mhc2D flies. 41% of wupAhdp-3/Y ; Mhc12/Mhc2D flies have an upheld wing phenotype and 59% hold their wings normally.
Selected as: a dominant suppressor of the wupAhdp-2 wings-up phenotype.
