Flies expressing ClkScer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf show similar locomotor activity period under free-running conditions (total darkness) as controls but the percentage as well as the rhythmic power of the behavioral oscillations is somewhat decreased.

When ClkScer\UAS.cZa is driven by Scer\GAL4cry.PP, females have a aberrant circadian rhythm. Instead of the characteristic bimodal profile, the diurnal pattern has only a single peak dominating the light phase with little or no evening peak. Mutants have a shortened period. When ClkScer\UAS.cZa is driven by Scer\GAL4cry.PE, mutants have an altered diurnal behaviour. There is a single peak of activity around the time of lights-on and little or no evening peak.

The loss of rhythmicity in locomotor activity under free-running (constant darkness) conditions characteristic for flies expressing SRm160KK108396 (and UAS-dicer2 to enhance the RNAi efficiency) under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf cannot be rescued by co-expression of ClkScer\UAS.cZa.

Co-expression of ClkScer\UAS.cZa with shnScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf results in an intermediate phenotype, with a shorter period than in Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf->shnScer\UAS.cMa flies, but a longer period than in Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf->ClkScer\UAS.cZa flies.

The weakened rhythmicity seen in tyfΔG14151 and tyfe00614 flies under constant darkness conditions is not suppressed by expression of ClkScer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf.
