Expression of Rbf280.GMR results in the development of a very rough eye. Many ommatidia are fused and there is an almost complete loss of bristles. The ommatidia are variable in shape. The second mitotic wave is not blocked in flies carrying Rbf280.GMR, but it is broader than wild type and BrdU staining is weaker. There are average of 125 +/- 13 S phase cells in the broader second mitotic wave, compared to 73 +/- 9 cells S phase cells in the wild-type second mitotic wave. Mitotic cells in the eye disc lose synchrony in animals carrying Rbf280.GMR, and there are mitotic cells scattered throughout the posterior of the eye disc, in contrast to wild type. There are an average of 32 +/- 5 M phase cells in the mutant eye disc, compared to 37 +/-3 M phase cells in wild type.

Rbf280.GMR has phenotype, enhanceable by dapGMR.PdN
Rbf280.GMR, dapGMR.PdN has eye disc & S phase phenotype, suppressible by E2f1su89
Rbf280.GMR has phenotype, non-suppressible by dapunspecified/dap[+]
Rbf280.GMR, dapGMR.PdN has eye disc & S phase phenotype
Rbf280.GMR, dapGMR.PdN has eye disc phenotype
Co-expression of dapGMR.PdN and Rbf280.GMR completely inhibits BrdU incorporation in the second mitotic wave in the eye disc.
