Expression of MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E or Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in malformed wing discs. Expression of MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in an increased number of cells in S phase in the posterior compartment of haltere discs compared to controls. Expression of MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E promotes S phase in cells in the zone of non-proliferating cells (ZNC) in the wing disc. Expression of MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in a slight increase in apoptosis in the wing disc. Expression of MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in a larger increase in apoptosis in the wing disc. The salivary glands are much smaller than normal in animals expressing MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 and the nuclei of the salivary glands are small. BrdU incorporation is not detected in the nuclei of the salivary glands of larvae expressing MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 or Scer\GAL4fkh.PB, in contrast to wild-type larvae, although it is still detected in the imaginal ring cells.
MybΔ.UAS, Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 has abnormal size | larval stage phenotype, suppressible by E2f1hs.PD/Dphs.PD
MybΔ.UAS, Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 has mitotic cell cycle phenotype, suppressible by E2f1hs.PD/Dphs.PD
MybΔ.UAS, Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 has embryonic/larval salivary gland phenotype, suppressible by E2f1hs.PD/Dphs.PD
Overexpression of both E2fhs.PD and Dphs.PD (using heat shock) in larvae expressing MybΔ.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in partial rescue of the salivary glands, both with respect to the overall size of the glands and the size of the individual nuclei, and BrdU incorporation can be detected in a number of the salivary gland nuclei with a couple of hours of heat treatment.
