adult thorax & microchaeta
adult thorax & microchaeta (with Nl1N-ts1)
Increased numbers of crystal cells are seen in NMcd8 mutant larvae at late third instar, compared to wild-type. These larvae also have increased numbers of prophenoloxidase expressing cells in the larval lymph glands.
Heterozygotes show loss of thoracic microchaetae, having 87.58 +/- 1.23 thoracic microchaetae per heminotum (compared to the wild-type number of 130.35 +/- 1.54). Homozygous adult NMcd8 escapers lack 63% of thoracic microchaetae (they have 48.00 +/- 1.66 microchaetae per heminotum), the remaining microchaetae are evenly spaced.. Animals carrying 1 copy of NMcd8 in the presence of 2 copies of N+ have 93.54 +/- 2.01 thoracic microchaetae per heminotum. Animals carrying 2 copies of NMcd8 in the presence of 1 copy of N+ have 73.82 +/- 2.02 thoracic microchaetae per heminotum. NMcd8/Nl1N-ts1 flies have 91.83 +/- 1.28 thoracic microchaetae per heminotum.
NMcd8 is a non-suppressor of abnormal size | adult stage phenotype of Scer\GAL4A9, anchorGD3613
NMcd8 is a non-suppressor of visible | adult stage phenotype of Scer\GAL4A9, anchorGD3613
NMcd8 is a non-suppressor of wing vein phenotype of Scer\GAL4A9, anchorGD3613
The thickened wing vein phenotype of adults expressing anchorGD3613 under the control of Scer\GAL4A9 is not suppressed by addition of NMcd8.
dxENU and dxP dominantly suppress the loss of microchaetae seen in NMcd8 heterozygotes, increasing the number of microchaetae per heminotum to 90.30 +/- 1.61 and 98.08 +/- 1.42 respectively. Expression of dshhs.PA using a 15 minute 37oC heat pulse at the beginning of pupariation does not alter the number of thoracic microchaetae produced in NMcd8 animals. Su(H)IB115 dominantly enhances the loss of microchaetae seen in NMcd8 heterozygotes, reducing the number of microchaetae per heminotum to 79.67 +/- 1.40.
