Expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4rn.PU suppresses wing formation.

Expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 results in antenna-to-leg transformation and a reduction in the eye.

Expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 results in approximately 95% pupal lethality. 75-100% of escapers show a reduction in the eye compared to wild type.

Misexpression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH promotes antenna-to-leg transformation but does not induce wing development.

Ectopic expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa in the eye disc using the eye-specific driver Scer\GAL4OK107 results in 8% of flies exhibiting an eye-to-wing transformation, in addition to an eye reduction phenotype.

Expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PB induces ectopic wings with antero-posterior and dorsal ventral axes.

Clones in the arista expressing AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP are wild type (they are not transformed to tarsus or leg identity).

Co-expression of eyScer\UAS.cHa rescues eye formation in animals expressing AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107.

Co-expression of either eyΔPD.Scer\UAS or eyΔCT.Scer\UAS is able to rescue the eye loss caused by expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107.

Animals co-expressing eyΔHD.Scer\UAS and AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 show lethality such that few pupae are obtained. The few escapers show partial rescue of the eye loss caused by expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107.

Expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa and Nact.sev under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH induces the ectopic outgrowth of T2-specific appendages (wings and legs) on the adult head the transformation of the anntenna into leg is not complete, owing to the fact that Scer\GAL4ey.PH is not expressed in the entire antennal disc.

The penetrance of the eye-to-wing transformation found in Scer\GAL4ey.PH; AntpScer\UAS.cBa mutants is increased upon ectopic co-expression of bip2Scer\UAS.cPa from 8% to 24%.

Ectopic expression of bip2Scer\UAS.cPa in combination with AntpScer\UAS.cBa and Nact.sev, under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH strongly enhances the penetrance of eye-to-wing transformation. About 80% of these flies show eye-to-wing transformation compared with 40% without co-expression of bip2Scer\UAS.cPa.

Co-expression of pbScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP suppresses the arista-to-tarsus transformation seen in flies expressing AntpScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1.

The antenna to leg transformation phenotype in AntpScer\UAS.cBa, Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 flies is suppressed by eyScer\UAS.cHa. Co-expression of eyScer\UAS.cHa and AntpScer\UAS.cBa when driven by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 leads to a inhibition of neuronal differentiation in the wing disc. Co-expression of eyScer\UAS.cHa and AntpScer\UAS.cBa when driven by Scer\GAL4ey.PH represses the AntpScer\UAS.cBa eye phenotypes.

Expression of AntpScer\UAS.cBa and NICN.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4ey.PH is lethal. About 1/4 of those few escapers that do survive are found to have ectopic wings on their heads that usually consisted of dorsal and ventral wing blades bordered by bristles of the wing margin, but lacking wing veins. About 17% of these flies showed ectopic leg structures induced by secondary transformation of the ectopic antennal tissue into leg structures, an additional 10% showed a transformation of the original antenna to leg structures.
