Amino acids 16-37 of the crb cytoplasmic domain are attached to the C terminal of the Rnor\Cd2 protein (this provides both a transmembrane domain and a tag) and are driven by UASt sequences.

      Over expression of crbIntra16-37.Scer\UAS.T:Rnor\CD2 when driven by Scer\GAL4da.G32 produces embryos with an epidermis that develops as a multilayered tissue (unlike the single layered epithelium seen in wild-type embryos).
