A 13.5kb SalI fragment containing the smg coding region and 5kb of upstream promoter sequence.
Size of reported fragment differs from size of FlyBase computed fragment based on author statement: A 13.5kb SalI fragment containing the smg coding region and 5kb of upstream promoter sequence.
Embryos carrying six copies of smg+t13.5 are completely viable and show no segmentation defects.
smg+t13.5 is a suppressor of embryo | anterior phenotype of BicDunspecified
smg+t13.5 is a suppressor of embryonic head phenotype of BicDunspecified
smg+t13.5 is a suppressor of embryonic thoracic segment phenotype of BicDunspecified
nanosΔBX, smg+t13.5 has embryonic abdominal segment phenotype
Embryos carrying nosΔBX in a nos- background and carrying two copies of smg+t13.5 develop 5 to 6 abdominal segments. Embryos carrying nosΔBX in a nos- background and carrying two copies of smg+t13.5 develop 2 abdominal segments. BicDunspecified embryos develop abdominal segments in the anterior of the embryo. This phenotype is suppressed by smg+t13.5; wild-type head and thoracic segments are specified normally and in many cases the embryos hatch.
