L1736P
Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change.
flightless (with MhcE1570K)
indirect flight muscle & myofibril
Homozygous MhcL1736P mutant dorsal longitudinal muscles (DLM) show fibre thinning only at the anterior ends. Reduced birefringence is also present. Homozygous MhcL1736P dorsal longitudinal muscles show a severe pattern of sarcomeric disarray and contain some larger, punctate accumulations of Z-disc material. Small, clustered bundles of thick/thin filament lattice are seen. The Z discs have little regularity in their size and spacing and the I-bands, H-bands and M bands are not present. No DLM muscle defects are seen in heterozygotes. Z discs of an irregular shape and size are first detectable at 42-46h after puparium formation.
The dorsal longitudinal muscles of MhcE1570K/MhcL1736P transheterozygotes show fibre thinning at both the anterior and posterior ends. The flies are flightless.
