Overexpression of Egfr through expression of Egfr2.Scer\UAS in the tracheal system under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PSresults in an increase in lumen formation, characterised by multiple air-filled lumens within a single cell.

The number of cells posterior to the furrow in eye discs that display caspase activation is reduced in Egfr2.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF animals. There is no accompanying increase in the levels of photoreceptor differentiation at this stage, but there is an increase in mitosis during the second mitotic wave (G2 to M progression, posterior to the furrow). The number of cells displaying caspase activation in pupal eye discs at 30 hours after puparium formation, is also significantly reduced in these animals, accompanied by significantly increased photoreceptor differentiation.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL432B there is no effect on wing development. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4h-H10 there is no effect on eye development. When expression is driven at higher levels (induced by raised temperature) with Scer\GAL432B extra wing vein appears - similar to that caused by expression of Egfr2.A887T.Scer\UAS at lower levels. When expression is driven at higher levels (induced by raised temperature) with Scer\GAL4h-H10 mutant eye phenotype appears - similar to that caused by expression of Egfr2.A887T.Scer\UAS at lower levels. Most cells are converted to photoreceptor fates.
