Detailed Description

Vps36L5212 somatic clones in eye-antennal imaginal discs contain enlarged, abnormal early endosomes.

Vps36L5212 somatic clones in eye-antennal imaginal discs show high levels of apoptosis compared to wildtype. Eye-antennal imaginal discs are comparable in size to wildtype, however in the adult a rough-eye phenotype is seen.

When the majority of cells in the eye-antennal imaginal discs are mutant for Vps36L5212, striking tissue overgrowth of the disc occurs and loose cellular architecture is observed.

Cell proliferation does occur in Vps36L5212 somatic clones in eye-antennal imaginal discs, and clones are unable to induce non-autonomous proliferation in surrounding wildtype tissue.

Females with homozygous germline clones do not lay eggs.

Vps36L5212 is a suppressor of eye phenotype of hidGMR.PG

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Heterozygosity for N264-39 does not suppresses the rough-eye phenotype that occurs in animals with somatic clones of Vps36L5212 generated in the eye-antennal disc.

The eye-ablation phenotype in WGMR.PG animals is strongly suppressed in Vps36L5212 somatic clones generated in the eye-antennal imaginal disc.
