Detailed Description

Sensilla basiconic are completely absent in lz114 flies, concomitant with an increase in trichoid sensilla. This increase is believed to be due to conversion of sense organ identities resulting in the presence of trichoid sensilla in domains on the antennal surface normally occupied by sensilla basiconica.

Hemizygous males have disrupted facets in the eye at 25oC.

lz114 behaves as a hypomorph at 25[o]C, but is amorphic at 28[o]C.

Flies have strong defects in the eye, antenna and maxillary palps. There is a decrease in the number of basiconic sensilla and an increase in the number of trichoid sensilla on the antenna compared to wild-type flies. This phenotype is much stronger at 25oC than 18oC.

The hemizygous eye phenotype is enhanced by expression of Bro::Hsap\MYH11Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev, is completely rescued by expression of BroScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev and is almost completely rescued by expression of BgbScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev.
