DoaE786/Doa4 XX females show somatic sex transformations. The flies exhibit typical female pigmentation but a male clasper, female vaginal structures and the female genital sex comb.
The ovaries of DoaE786/DoaDem mutant flies appear normal, despite asymmetry in the female genital sex combs.
Doa7/DoaE786 mutants exhibit defects in the mesothoracic tarsi.
In Doa6/DoaE786 mutants where the Doa6 allele is from the mother only females are recovered. The flies have rough eyes, duplicated postalar bristles, missing scutellar bristles and disorganisation of the vaginal bristles. When the DoaE786 allele comes from the mother there are no survivors.
Transheterozygotes with wa have red eyes.
