    Detailed Description

Homozygous clones in the eye result in patches of necrotic tissue, naked cuticle lacking photoreceptors and tubular outgrowths.

In homozygous clones in the eye disc, cells remain apically constricted several rows posterior to the morphogenetic furrow, in contrast to wild type. The clones are not rounded, but they segregate away from neighbouring wild-type cells as they remain in the lower plane of the morphogenetic furrow.

aopunspecified embryos have an average of 5.3 +/- 0.10 neurons per lch5 organ.

aopunspecified/Df(2L)dp-79b and homozygous embryos have ectopic denticles immediately anterior to the denticle belts.

Homozygotes have an excess of R7-like central photoreceptors.

Homozygous embryos have an anterior dorsal hole in the epidermis, and brain and sometimes gut extrude through this hole. Head involution is normal. The defects are visible during dorsal closure.

    Genetic Interactions
    Statement
    Reference

The apical constriction phenotype seen posterior to the morphogenetic furrow in aopunspecified clones in the eye disc is suppressed if the clones express either panΔN.Scer\UAS or AxnScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4unspecified.

The adult eye defects caused by homozygous aopunspecified clones are also suppressed if the clones express either panΔN.Scer\UAS or AxnScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4unspecified.
