Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Homozygous females are completely sterile, eggs that are laid are grossly normal but fail to hatch. Females heterozygous with mwra excision alleles (mwr1, mwr2, mwr3 or mwr4) are nearly or completely sterile. Mutation impairs segregation of nonexchange chromosomes. Meiotic defect is in homologue recognition as the chromosomes appear to be misaligned on an intact spindle.

Statement
Reference

mwra is an enhancer of phenotype of nodDTW

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Presence of mwra increases the rate of X chromosome nondisjunction seven fold in nodDTW heterozygous females, phenotype of Df(1)nod is not enhanced.

Comments

Excision of P{lacW} insertion partially relieves the female sterile phenotype but excisions retain the dominant nodDTW enhancing activity.
