Homozygotes die as pupae. Eyes are typically rough and show overproliferation.

Homozygotes exhibit embryonic or early larval lethality. wts tumour phenotype in mitotic clones: overproliferation and apical hypertrophy of epithelial cells leading to abnormal deposition of cuticle.
