eye photoreceptor cell & axon (with slik04807b)
sliE-158 homozygous embryos exhibit severe axon guidance defects in the longitudinal connective from 14h post-fertilization onwards, as compared to controls.
Medial longitudinal tracts are seen to cross the midline in 14 hour mutant embryos.
slik04807b/sliE-158 third instar larvae show defects in photoreceptor axon targeting, with gaps in the lamina and increased numbers of axons entering the medulla.
3.1% of expected mutant embryos hatch as first instar larvae. The latest observed stage of mutants is pupa. Nerve cord length is 82% of embryo length. Midline guidance failure of repellence phenotype, evidenced by midline crossing, is mild.
Embryos show a partial midline collapse of the central nervous system.
sliE-158 has abnormal neuroanatomy phenotype, non-enhanceable by fraUAS.cKa/Scer\GAL4elav.PLu
sliE-158 has larval ventral nerve cord phenotype, enhanceable by robo[+]/robo11
sliE-158 has larval longitudinal connective phenotype, enhanceable by robo[+]/robo11
sliE-158 has larval longitudinal connective phenotype, non-enhanceable by fraUAS.cKa/Scer\GAL4elav.PLu
sli[+]/sliE-158 is an enhancer of larval longitudinal connective phenotype of robo11
The longitudinal tracts of embryos expressing NetBScer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4unspecified in a sliE-158 background appear similar to those seen in strong loss-of-function sli mutant embryos. Expression of fraScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu does not enhance the sliE-158 longitudinal tract phenotype.
