Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

5% of dsh4/Y flies carrying one copy of dshw have defects in adult structures. The defects consist primarily of deleted or duplicated antennae and/or deleted wings with a concurrent duplication of notal structures.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The dsh4 phenotype is dominantly enhanced by wgen11, sglSG9 and sgl08310; dsh4/Y flies that are also heterozygous for wgen11, sglSG9 or sgl08310 show defects in adult structures in 62%, 19% and 41% of cases respectively.

If dshw, dshunspecified flies are also made heterozygous for a wg allele, the frequency of wg-like defects increases to 100%, including missing/reduced wings, duplicated nota, head defects and leg abnormalities.

Complementation and Rescue Data
Partially rescues

dshw partially rescues dsh1

Comments

Partly rescues the polarity defects of dsh1 and partially rescues the lethality of lethal dsh alleles. Flies carrying lethal alleles of dsh and dshw survive to adulthood but exhibit cell polarity defects. 8% have missing wings and duplicated nota as seen in wg mutants.
