The shape and number of axon tracts is somewhat disorganised in mutant embryos.

Embryos derived from homozygous female germline clones show defects in tracheal invagination, branch fusion and dorsal trunk formation.

Homozygous embryos derived from homozygous female germline clones lack the naked posterior half of each segment and lack denticle diversity, segmental furrows and terminal structures.

Lethality occurs at the larval or pupal stages. A few survive through metamorphosis before dying. These adults display nicked wings and lack marginal bristles, they lack antennal structures and tergites are incomplete. Legs are bulbous and truncated, the claw is duplicated and the number of sex combs is reduced to 1-3. Mosaic clones on the dorsal or ventral prothoracic leg surface cause no mutant phenotype. Homozygous embryos exhibit a wg-like segment polarity phenotype. Gynandromorphs exhibit a wild-type pattern of denticle belts.

Embryos exhibit a lawn of denticle belts.

Double mutants of wghs.PN and arm25B show some restoration of the segmental denticle phenotype.
