follicle cell (with brnl.6P6)
Females carrying toc mutants exhibit wild type ovary morphology.
Eggs derived from homozygous females dispay dorsal appendages fused along the dorsal midline. Eggs derived from heterozygous mothers are completely wild type. The fused dorsal appendage is twice as wide as that of a single appendage.
Homozygous females lay eggs with fused dorsal appendages: embryos show neurogenic phenotypes. Dorsal appendage phenotype of brnfs.107 is cold temperature sensitive and is more extreme than that of brnl.6P6. Cold sensitive period is at stages 6-7 of oogenesis, coincident with first overt polarisation of the egg chamber.
brnfs.107 is a non-enhancer of visible phenotype of HUAS.cMa, Scer\GAL4GMR.PU
brnfs.107 is a non-suppressor of visible phenotype of HUAS.cMa, Scer\GAL4GMR.PU
brnfs.107/brnl.6P6 has follicle cell phenotype, enhanceable by da[+]/da2
brnfs.107 has follicle cell phenotype, enhanceable by da[+]/da2
brnfs.107 is a non-enhancer of eye phenotype of HUAS.cMa, Scer\GAL4GMR.PU
brnfs.107 is a non-suppressor of eye phenotype of HUAS.cMa, Scer\GAL4GMR.PU
The eye phenotype caused by expression of HScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU is unaffected if the flies also carry brnfs.107.
brnfs.107/brn+; grkED22/grk+ females display large gaps in the follicular epithelium, frequently uncovering over half of the egg chamber exposing the nurse cells. Eggs derived from these females display dorsal appendages fused at the base with two appendages apparent, indistinguishable from a weak brn eggshell phenotype (intermediate or strong ventralised phenotype).
Allelic series in the ovary: brn228 > brnl.6P6 (germline clones) = brn198 > brnfs.107. Zygotic requirement for brn alleles (strongest to weakest): brnl.6P6 > brn228 > brn198 > brnfs.107.
