One copy of Su(z)25 is unable to suppress position effect variegation (PEV) at the w locus caused by In(1)wm4.

One copy of Su(z)25 strongly suppresses the telomeric position effect (TPE) in stocks carrying a variegating P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-5 insertion at the telomere of the left arm of chromosome two.

Su(z)25/+ suppresses the telomeric position effect (TPE) of P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-5, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-27, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-31 and P{wA}4-4.

Has little effect on the frequency of X-Y chromosome nondisjunction seen in Df(1)X-1-53B males, but acts as a meiotic drive suppressor, suppressing drive against the X and Y chromosomes in these flies.

Su(z)25 can show a strong dominant suppression on telomeric Position Effect Variegation (PEV) in stocks carrying a variegating w+mW.hs allele at the telomeres of the second and third chromosome. Has no effect on pericentric and fourth chromosome insertions. Su(z)25 suppresses the telomeric Position effect variegation (PEV) of P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-50, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-58, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-31, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-51, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-62, P{hsp26-pt-T}118E-16, P{hsp26-pt-T}118E-26, P{hsp26-pt-T}118E-21, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-27 and P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-5.

No homeotic phenotype. Cannot enhance the homeotic phenotypes of Pc group mutants (FBrf0049524).

In z1 wzm strain mutation causes reduction of eye pigmentation. Slightly suppress w phenotype in a e(y) background.

Sensitive to aminopterin.

The addition of Su(z)25 suppresses the Pairing sensitive silencing effect seen inwMcp.y.scs'.1 and strongly suppresses the eye colour phenotype of double insertion combinations of wMcp.scs'.21/ywe.Mcp.1 (P{Mcp-w#21}124/+, P{Mcp-wy#1}183/+) and wMcp.y.scs'.1/ywe.Mcp.2 (P{Mcp-yw#1}103/+, P{Mcp-wy#2}50/+). The addition of Su(z)25 has no effect on the Pairing sensitive silencing effect seen in wMcp.scs'.21.

Has no effect on the phenotypes of ct2s, ct4s and ct6, where the wing margin enhancer is completely blocked.

Dominant suppressor of z1 eye color: eye color is more wild type. Eye color of heterozygous females which are also z1/z1 : orange (with speckling). Eye color of heterozygous males which are also z1, wis/Y: maroon (with subtle speckling).

Heterozygous flies modify the yellow eyes of z1 to yellow orange: dominant suppressors of z1 eye colour.
