Homozygotes are lethal during pupal development.

Heterozygous flies carrying out 10 training sessions to test memory of odours do not display a lower 24 hour memory in spaced training (rest periods between tasks) compared to control flies.

Su(H)8/Su(H)6 late third instar larvae are almost totally devoid of crystal cells, but have plasmatocyte cell counts equal to Su(H)8 or Su(H)6 heterozygotes. These larvae also have increased numbers of prophenoloxidase expressing cells in the larval lymph glands.

Heterozygotes with a null allele show occasional double-shaft macrochaetes.

Fail to show the neurogenic imaginal disc phenotype when heterozygous with Df(2L)TE35BC-24.
