Detailed Description

Homozygous embryos have ectopically migrating tracheal branches and tracheal cells. Ectopic looping of the dorsal branches is seen and the dorsal trunk is sometimes convoluted. In the most severe cases, rounded "run-away" tracheal cells are seen throughout the embryo and there is a complete loss of the tracheal network.

84% of heterozygous embryos show ectopic tracheal migration.

Embryos have completely unpigmented and weak cuticles.

Eye colour: mutant in trans with a homozygous viable Pu allele.

The penetrance and severity of the ectopic tracheal migration phenotype is increased in PurAA17 awdj2A4 double heterozygous embryos compared to either single heterozygote.

The penetrance and severity of the ectopic tracheal migration phenotype is increased in PurAA17/+ shi2 double mutant embryos compared to either single mutant.

The opposing tracheal phenotypes of PurAA17/+ and btlH82Δ3/+ single heterozygous embryos (ectopic migration and lack of migration respectively) are both partially suppressed in PurAA17/+ btlH82Δ3/+ double heterozygous embryos.

The opposing tracheal phenotypes of PurAA17/+ and Catsup26/+ single heterozygous embryos (ectopic migration and lack of migration respectively) are both partially suppressed in PurAA17/+ Catsup26/+ double heterozygous embryos.
