-62 to -68. From the molecular map of the wild-type noc-Adh region (McGill, Chia, Karp and Ashburner, 1988); coordinate 0 an EcoRI restriction site 1321 bp to the left of the start of transcription of the larval Adh transcript; '+' values to the right, '-' values to the left.
The post-vertical and ocellar macrochaetae and intra-ocellar microchaetae are disrupted, and the lateral ocelli are reduced in size in noc2/Df(2L)b81a1 flies. The medial ocellus appears normal in these flies.
Three ocelli may be present, although they are usually clearly reduced in size compared to wild-type, and may be present just as pigmented "ghosts". Anterior postalar bristles are reduced in number, and the arrangement of the interocellar microchaetae is disturbed. The phenotype is expressed more strongly in late emerging flies, and males are usually affected more than females.
