Description

An interstitial deletion of 8kb has removed the proximal part of the l(2)gl gene.

Deletion of approximately 8kb DNA from approximately 11.5kb to 19kb (coordinates with respect to proximal end of a cloned l(2)gl region, close to the tip of 2L) which is replaced by an insertion of approximately 6.5kb DNA.

Comment:

Characterized by a roughly 6.5kb insertion in addition to an approximately 8kb deletion; mutation maps within an EcoRI-BamHI fragment

Detailed Description

Neoplastic overgrowth mutant. Imaginal disc tissue shows abnormal distribution of apico-lateral cell junctional markers.

Tumorous growth of the imaginal discs.

Homozygous larvae die of brain and imaginal disc neoplasms.

intermediate allele: moderately enlarged brain and discs, which show enhanced growth when transplanted into wild-type females and death of host is delayed. lethal phase: larvae 79.1%, pupae 20.9%
