In the larval CNS, ScerGAL4GMR65C11 drives expression in six neurosecretory cells of the pars intercerebralis (MNCs), and in seven pairs of neurosecretory cells in the ventral nerve cord. In the adult CNS, ScerGAL4GMR65C11 drives expression in six neurosecretory cells of the pars intercerebralis (MNCs), and in at leat for cells dorsally and six ventrally in the posterior thoracico-abdominal ganglion. All the larval Lk-expressing ABLK neurons co-express Dh44 protein and the driver ScerGAL4GMR65C11; four to eight anterior adult Lk-expressing ABLK neurons also co-express Dh44 protein and the driver ScerGAL4GMR65C11.
In L3 larvae, ScerGAL4GMR65C11 drives expression in larval DH44 neurons of ventral nerve cord. By the pupal stage, expression is seen in larval DH44 neuron of ventral nerve cord, larval DH44 neurons of pars intercerebralis and individual neurons within the lateral part of the protocerebrum that send ipsi- and contra-lateral projections to the prow. In the adult, expression is driven in adult DH44 neurons of pars intercerebralis co-labelled with anti-Dh44. These send ipsilateral projections through the superior neuropils and around the esophageal foramen where they form large dendritic arborisations on the prow and flange. It also drives expression in a pair of bilateral clusters of neurons in the prow that ramify on the crop and midgut, adult DH44 neurons of thoracico-abdominal ganglion - and a large group of interconnected neurons in the abdominal neuromere, two of which send projections to the internal genitalia.
ScerGAL4GMR65C11 drives expression in a subset of six ScerGAL4Kurs58 positive neurons of the adult pars intercerebralis. In addition to endogenous Dh44 protein expression ScerGAL4GMR65C11 also labels a small number of neurons that project to the fan-shaped body.
