The Tag:Bio(Unk) entry in FlyBase represents a peptide sequence that can be biotinylated efficiently in vivo, but where the species and/or gene of origin is unknown/unspecified. The biotinylated tag can be used as an affinity tag for one-step purification, by binding to streptavidin, of the tagged protein or its complexes.
