From: Christos Samakovlis Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2007 16:58:08 +0200 ( 15:58 BST) The Csk[S017909] chromosome contains at least two lethal mutations. One is associated with the P-element (which we plasmid-rescued and sequenced) and corresponds to Csk 86E17-18. The other which we recombined away from the P-element is the one that causes the tracheal phenotype of interest. We mapped this phenotype by complementation crosses against deficiencies removing different parts of the third chromosome. The P-element unlinked lethality was mapped to 82C4-82E4. Further complementation crosses with different published mutants in the region showed that the tracheal and lethality phenotypes were allelic to kkv DZ8 from Ostrowski etal and kkv 1 from the Tubingen screen. We have not further analysed the molecular defect of the kkv gene in the Csk[S017909]chromosome.
