The expression of barcshRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 leads to a significant increase in the number of intermediate neural progenitors, namely of immature Ase-positive, Dpn-negative intermediates, and to significant decreases in the numbers of ganglion mother cells and of Pros-positive neurons in type II neuroblast lineages, as compared to controls. Expression under the control of either Scer\GAL4ase.neuro or Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 leads to a significant increase in the number of ganglion mother cells in type I neuroblast lineages, as compared to controls.
