Imprecise excision of P{EP}PlzfG5992 resulting in deletion of 770 bp (chromosome 2L from 12,047,078 bp to 12,047,847 bp), which means the encoded protein lacks three zinc finger motifs. A small quantity of shortened transcripts, but no full-length Plzf, is detected in the homozygotes.
