Genomic fragment including the Eip78C gene, from BAC clone CH321-05P13. A sfGFP-Tag:FLAG tag cassette has been introduced at the C-terminal end of the Eip78C gene, such that protein isoforms A, B and C are tagged.

Eip78CsfGFP,Tag:FLAG protein is detected in the nuclei of nurse cells beginning in germarium regions 2b/3, and continuing through oogenesis stage S10. Eip78CsfGFP,Tag:FLAG protein is also detected in follicle cells, including in oocyte associated (main body) follicle cells, and in border follicle cells.

The decreased number of cap cells per germarium and the high proportion of ovarioles that contain dying follicles characteristic for Eip78CΔ31/Df(3L)BSC419 adult females can be partially restored by combination with single copy of Eip78CT:Avic\GFP-SF,T:Zzzz\FLAG but the reduced number of germline stem cells per germarium is not rescued.
