Expression of glob1^HMS01556 under the control of any of the following: Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI, Scer\GAL4^{nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16} or Scer\GAL4^c329b results in abnormal distribution of follicle cells (multilayering) and nurse cells in egg chambers.

Ectopic expression of glob1^HMS01556 under the control of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI results in partial lethality with majority of animals dying during embryonic or larval stages and the survivors are developmentally delayed compared to wild-type controls. These survivors occasionally show melanotic masses during larval or pupal stages. Expression under either Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI or Scer\GAL4^btl.PS causes defects in the morphology of trachea as well as the tracheal liquid clearance in first instar larvae.
