Description

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a deletion of nucleotides 44-1198 of the nmo transcript (this removes the predicted start codon at position 1035 and the following 54 amino acids).

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Mutant die as pharate adults, with a low frequency of escapers that show ectopic vein material.

Homozygous clones in the third larval instar eye disc show severe under-rotation of ommatidial precursors.

Mutant ommatidia show severely reduced rotation of ommatidia compared to controls (in many cases, clusters do not rotate at all). Clonal analysis indicates that the requirement for nmo[+] in ommatidial rotation is not restricted to any particular photoreceptor cell subtype, nmo[+] is required in a cluster-autonomous manner and more normal rotation correlates with the number of wild-type photoreceptor cells in a mosaic ommatidium.

nmoDB/nmo[+] is a suppressor of ommatidium phenotype of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev, gishGD10588

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Presence of nmoDB does not significantly alter eye phenotypes seen in flies with FrlDN.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4sev.EP.

Dosage reduction of nmo, through a nmoDB mutant background is able to enhance the eye roughness seen in Scer\GAL4GMR.PU>miple1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 mutants.

A nmoDB mutant background enhances the ommatidial rotation phenotype seen in flies expressing miple1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev.

nmoDB/+ enhances the ommatidial rotation defects induced by Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>gishGD10588.
