    Description

    Deficiency breakpoint in the region of exon 13 of jar (no PCR products are obtained from exons 3-13, but products are obtained from exons 14-17). This deficiency removes most of the jar coding region, through exon 13, and no jar sequences are transcribed.

    jar322/Df(3R)crb87-5 adults are recovered, but they are found at approximately 40% of the expected frequency. jar322/Df(3R)crb87-5 animals with no maternal jar[+] function eclose at the same frequency as jar322/Df(3R)crb87-5 animals that do have maternal jar[+] function.

    jar322/Df(3R)crb87-5 females derived from embryos with or without maternal jar[+] function are fertile.
