Detailed Description

The adulthood-only expression of dppJF01091 under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 and Gal80[ts] does not affect the tissue homeostasis of adult testes, as compared to controls.

Expression of dppJF01091 under the control of Scer\GAL4A9 produces weak wing phenotypes in males. Females completely lack a phenotype.

Expression of dppJF01091 under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in loss of wing veins. The phenotype is more severe in males than females.

The co-expression of dppJF01091 does not suppress the increased number of cyst stem cells in adult testes resulting from the adulthood-only expression of PcNIG.32443R under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 and Gal80[ts].

Simultaneous expression of both PscGD4481 and Su(z)2GD16388 under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 (together with tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to adulthood) results in tumorigenic accumulation of spectrosome containing germline stem cell-like (GSC-like) cells (which increase in number with the time of expression) in female germaria; this accumulation of GSC-like cells is significantly suppressed by co-expression of dppJF01091.

The increased number of spectrosome-containing cells in germaria characteristic for adult females expressing Cul2GD8913 RNAi under the control of the Scer\GAL4ptc.PU can be partially rescued by combination with either dpphr92, dpphr56 or tkv7 in a heterozygous state or by knocking-down dpp by co-expression of either dppJF01090 or dppJF01091 RNAi.

Co-expression of dppJF01091 with Su(var)3-3NIG.17149R under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 strongly suppresses the supernumerary germline stem cell phenotype resulting from the expression of Su(var)3-3NIG.17149R.
