Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a deletion that removes part of the Sox15 gene (nucleotides -21 to +3078 are deleted).
A deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{SUPor-P}Sox15KG09145. Reported as a deletion of nucleotides -21 to +3078.
Homozygous adults show defects in the wing and haltere, mostly affecting formation of the hinge region. Homozygotes have reduced movement at the coxa-trochanter joint which prevents extension of the femur and interferes with the ability to walk.
The external cuticular structures of mechanosensory bristles appear normal in homozygous adults. The average mechanoreceptor current recorded from homozygous mechanosensory bristles is significantly reduced compared to controls. There is a reduction in the number of microtubules in the tubular body of the ciliary dendrite of the neuron of the mechanosensory bristle, and the socket cell shows signs of cell death ultrastructurally, losing its characteristic apical membrane folds and have multiple large vesicles lacking electron density in the cytoplasm.
Sox154AA, Su(H)8/Su(H)2, Su(H)RC-ΔASE has tormogen cell phenotype
Su(H)2 Sox154AA/Su(H)8 Sox154AA; Su(H)RC-ΔASE mutants show a more dramatic socket differentiation defect than either single mutant. Most of the double mutant bristles have a convex (rather than concave) socket-shaft cuticular interface. Dome of these bulbous socket structures extend one or more small cuticular projections, while others extend one or two distinctly shaft-like structures.
